Can't create a PDF file

I can't create a PDF file from any Windows application.  Microsoft Word reports the following error:
" Windows Cannot print due to a problem with current printer setup.
Try one or more of the following:
*Check printer by printing test page from Windows
*Make sure printer is turned online
*Reinstall Printer Driver."
Notepad reports the following error:
"A StartdocPrinter call was not issued"
WordPad reports the following error:
"Could not start Print Job"

The Win2PDF troubleshooter on the following page lists several possible causes and recommended solutions:
