Problem:
Is it possible to install multiple instances of the Win2PDF printer?
Solution:
For Win2PDF 3.20 and above, you can add an instance of the Win2PDF printer by executing the "win2pdf.exe" application in the printer drivers folder with a "-addinstance" command line. For example, the following command in a "Run" prompt will add an instance of the Win2PDF printer to the printers folder:
"c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\win2pdf.exe" -addinstance
If you're using an x64 edition of Windows, you need to add a -x64 parameter to the command line as in:
"c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3\win2pdf.exe" -addinstance -x64
You need to run these commands with administrator privileges. To do this, open a command prompt with "Run as administrator" and then execute the command.
For Win2PDF Version 10.0.83 or above, you can also specify the name of the printer instead of being prompted by adding the following to the command line:
-printername="name of printer" For previous versions of Win2PDF, it's possible to install multiple instances of Win2PDF if you follow these steps:
1. Install Win2PDF. While the printer is still named "Win2PDF", enter the registration code. Verify that the trailer page is removed.
2. Rename the Win2PDF printer to something else, and run the Win2PDF setup again. This will create a second instance of Win2PDF named "Win2PDF".
3. Open the "Enter Win2PDF License" dialog again. This will force the trailer page to be removed from the second instance of Win2PDF.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for additional printers.
